Researching Export Markets Masterclass

14/06/2018 - 09:30 to 12:00 - Free of charge

About the Event

Are you missing out on overseas sales because you don’t know whether there is a demand for what you have to offer? Or perhaps you just don’t know where in the world to start? Plan your market entry the right way by using market research to understand the potential for your business overseas and the best prospects for success.

Our masterclass, delivered by the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) dedicated Export Marketing Research Adviser in the East Midlands, Gary Blackburn, will provide an excellent introduction to researching overseas markets, including how to identify the most appropriate territories via market selection and advice on how to conduct desk based and face to face research.

Practical takeaways from the session will include:

  • Understanding the key criteria for selecting and prioritising overseas markets
  • Ability to plan, undertake or commission, and report on a market research project
  • Making effective use of the internet and other sources of desk research
  • Ability to plan and undertake market research visits to your target export markets
  • Using market research to gain an in-depth understanding of potential customers and partners

Gary has over 20 years’ experience in the research industry in both the private and public sectors. He has conducted research in the UK and in overseas territories, including Singapore, Germany and Denmark. Gary’s main responsibilities are to provide research advice to exporters looking to identify target markets and undertake secondary and primary research prior to market entry.
