Event Information

Katie is a Principal UX Designer at Clearleft, an independent design consultancy based in Brighton. She has a well-rounded skill set to turn her hand at any part of the early stage design process: research, strategy, ideation or information architecture. Katie’s an expert in graphic facilitation and storyboarding to quickly capture and communicate the essence of an idea or vision. You’ll often find her co-creating service experiences, visualising concepts and iterating them in response to user and stakeholder feedback.

Katie's started her career in in the physical world of ergonomics. She spent three years designing the layout of control rooms, the wayfinding in stations and train driver displays. Then she transferred her research and design skills into the digital space in 2007.

Katie believes that designing a service that works end to end and front to back is the key to meeting and exceeding customers and employees needs and expectations. In this talk, Katie will talk through what it means to design a service that considers these dimensions, and how it’s the responsibility of all designers to ask the right questions to push these boundaries. She will bring this all to life with a case study, which initially starting with a request to redesign a form from Brighton & Hove City Council and resulted in the creation of a system that eases the process for everyone.

Please join us online on Tuesday 27th April at 7pm for what is sure to be an interesting and informative talk.
