Sport and Heritage, although not natural bedfellows, both play a huge part in driving the visitor economy for many regions. Their role in the recovery of the visitor economy should not be underestimated. This webinar explores the economic impact both play and addresses how place making can tie these two areas together, helping to create an attractive, vibrant community – which appeals to both visitors and residents alike.

Liam Scully

Chief Executive, Lincoln City

Liam joined Lincoln City in August 2017 after a distinguished career with Doncaster Rovers where he held numerous roles including a stint as Foundation Chief Executive before moving taking up office as Chief Operating Officer of the Club Doncaster Group.

Liam has gained over 18 years’ experience of working in football, having first entered the sport via an apprenticeship funded by the PFA. Since then Liam has worked through the ranks in various roles, which culminated in Liam being inducted into the National Apprenticeship Hall of Fame in 2007. The Hall of Fame recognised outstanding achievement in enterprise and business from those who started off their working life through an apprenticeship scheme.

Liam also holds a number of non-executive director roles including Trustee of the Asian Sports Foundation and Director of XP Free School Trust.  Previously Liam has also held position as the Independent Chair - Inclusion and Fairness Forum (Doncaster), Advisory Board Member - Doncaster Children’s Trust, Advisory Board Member - Football League Trust and is often found sharing his experience in various guest lecturing roles.

Liam is a keen adventurer and charity fundraiser and lists his finest personal achievement as completing the 7-day Inca Trek to Machu Picchu (Peru) where he also raised over £75,000 for the NSPCC.

 

Charlotte Goy

Chief Executive, Visit Lincoln

Charlotte is the Chief Executive of Visit Lincoln Community Interest Company, a Destination Management Organisation, which is promoting Lincoln as a place to visit, live, work and invest in.

She has 12+years’ experience working across the sector delivering a comprehensive programme of business support to hospitality, leisure, and tourism businesses.

The DMO works with local stakeholders, private sector businesses, trade associations as well as Visit England and DCMS on its comprehensive support and marketing to Greater Lincolnshire.

 

Kimberley Vickers

Castle Manager, Lincoln Castle

Kimberley is the General Manager for Lincoln Castle and has worked in the cultural sector for over 15 years. Her role forms part of the Cultural Management Team for Lincolnshire County Council. The customer and visitor experience is at the heart of everything she does. She enjoys creating fun and engaging experiences for the widest possible audiences whilst inspiring local and regional pride in Lincoln and Lincolnshire.

She has long championed the role that historic buildings and heritage can play in shaping peoples experience of a place and how this contributes to driving growth in the local visitor economy.

 

Paul Starbuck

Director, LK2 Group

A chartered architect and Director of award-winning architectural and sports consultancy practise, LK2 Group, Paul will provide insight into strategic town centre regeneration using sport, leisure, heritage and culture as key drivers and collaboration between private and public sectors as a catalyst. With over 35 years’ experience working within architecture, Paul has specialised in regeneration through retail repurposing and repositioning, advising a number of local authorities and developers on strategic partnerships. Through an example of a current LK2 project, Paul will outline how  sport and leisure together with culture and heritage has created a strategic opportunity  to create an invigorated sense of place and identity in a city centre.
