This workshop, delivered by the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) dedicated Export Marketing Research Adviser in the East Midlands, Gary Blackburn, will provide an excellent introduction to researching overseas markets, including how to identify the most appropriate territories via market selection and advice on how to conduct desk based and face to face research.

 

Practical takeaways from the session will include:

- Understanding the key criteria for selecting and prioritising overseas markets

- Ability to plan, undertake or commission, and report on a market research project

- Making effective use of the internet and other sources of desk research

- Ability to plan and undertake market research visits to your target export markets

- Using market research to gain an in-depth understanding of potential customers and partners

About the Speaker

Gary Blackburn

Export Market Research Adviser

Gary has over 20 years’ experience in the research industry in both the private and public sectors. He has conducted research in the UK and in overseas territories, including Singapore, Germany and Denmark. Gary’s main responsibilities are to provide research advice to exporters looking to identify target markets and undertake secondary and primary research prior to market entry.

Please note we are only able to offer one place per company to ensure we can support as many businesses as possible. To qualify for this funded support, your business must be a small to medium enterprise (SME) based in Greater Lincolnshire. Apologies, no support intermediaries, public bodies or financial sector businesses.

 

Am I eligible?

The workshop is available to businesses, partnerships, sole traders, and registered charities, with a trading address located within Greater Lincolnshire (North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire & Lincolnshire).

To attend, your business must complete an SME enrolment form in order to check the business’s eligibility against the funding criteria. (The form will be sent to you on completion of an Eventbrite booking - if one has not already been completed and held on file).

Please note that attendance at Business Lincolnshire events will not preclude eligibility to access grant funding.
