BLLive Show – Episode #7 – From Farming Challenges Today to Future Sustainable Supply Tomorrow

Learn about the current challenges facing the agricultural industry, food supply chains, horticulture and haulage sectors as well as the technical advances to achieve growth and sustainability.

Event Information

Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland is responsible for growing 12% of England’s food and processing 70% of its fish, making growth in the agri-food sector important not only locally but for the whole of the UK.

Our seventh #BLLive Show on Tuesday 23 November at 12 noon will focus on the current challenges faced around maintaining the industry, food supply and obtaining the labour required for agriculture, horticulture and haulage sectors. We will explore the technical advances that are key to growth and solutions to further increase sustainability.

The Growth Hub’s Agricultural and Horticultural Adviser, Paul Ward, will discuss the challenges faced by this broad sector, the support on offer to businesses in a range of areas, provide details of grants available and give an update on environmental land management schemes (ELMS).

Paul will be joined by Janet Bellamy, Associate Professor of Digitalisation and Food Processing at the University of Lincoln, who will introduce us to the work that the Food Enterprise Zone is doing on alternative packaging and why automation is so crucial to the industry.

Barclays Eagle Labs AgriTech Hub in Lincoln will be showcased by their Ecosystem Manager, Lisa Bagley, providing us with an insight into the cutting-edge resources that are available to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies to increase efficiencies across the food supply chain from field to fork.

We will also hear how Lincolnshire based business A H Worth embraced sustainable farming, what the journey means to their business and how this can be achieved by others in the county from their CEO, Duncan Worth.

If you have any questions on how the current challenges are affecting your business, how to work more sustainably or investment in automation to make your processes more efficient, please ask them in the event comments on the LinkedIn event page which can be accessed via the link below. Our experts will then provide you with their thoughts on the day.

Look forward to seeing you at the show!
