Event Information

The Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Nottingham in collaboration with VA Innovation Ltd., are delighted to announce that as part of the Aerospace UP project, we will be hosting a FREE two day interactive workshop “Driving Innovation in Your Workforce through Lean Six Sigma” for SMEs based in within the Midlands.

This two day workshop introduction to lean thinking will be led by a Lean Practitioner and Six Sigma Certified Black Belt, to help attendees improve their business performance through lean practices and learn new techniques for problem solving within their businesses.

The schedule for the workshops are:

  • Monday 23rd May 10am-4pm
  • Tuesday 24th May 10am-4pm

Attendees can attend in-person at the event, to be hosted in the Advanced Manufacturing Building, University of Nottingham, or virtually through Microsoft Teams. We would recommend attending in person if you can, so you can receive the benefits of interactive sessions. The workshops will included a catered lunch, and an optional tour of the world class facilities within the Advanced Manufacturing Building too.

This workshop is exclusively available for SMEs within the Midlands, who have not utilised the business support available through the Aerospace UP project. The workshop has a capacity of 20 businesses for the in-person places, and is limited to 1 attendee per business per day. Attendees can be interchangeable from each business over the 2 days. A small or medium business is defined as having less than 250 employees, no more than 25% of the organisation being owned by an enterprise that is not itself an SME, and an annual turnover not exceeding €50 million or an annual balance sheet not exceeding €43 million.

At this time we are only taking registrations as a declaration of interest. Upon registering, a member of our team will be in contact to complete an enrolment form for your business on the Aerospace UP project with you. Once this enrolment form has been checked and approved, you will have your space on the workshop confirmed.

This event is part-funded via the European Regional Development Fund, therefore we are required to evidence if you are a small to medium enterprise. There will be a form or two that will need to be completed on the day. The form is to ensure you are a small to medium enterprise and capture any business support you have received over the last 3 years to ensure you haven’t exceeded the €200,000 State Aid limit.
