Export Live! - Navigating Customs formalities and ensuring HMRC compliance

Export Live! sessions cover the essentials of customs compliance and documentation to help ensure that you can continue to export and import without unexpected costs, delays or penalties.

Event Information

Customs formalities are a major part of international trade i.e. all goods that leave, enter or transit through a country are subject to customs clearance procedures. The UK has now left the EU Customs Union, and Customs requirements for businesses trading with EU member states have increased significantly.

Border controls and increased Customs requirements bring a level of Government, specifically HMRC, compliance that some companies may be unaware of, especially if they have only ever traded with the EU. Quite apart from the inconvenience and cost of having goods held up or confiscated at the border, the impact of non-compliance on a business can be immense, carrying both fiscal and custodial penalties. So, it is essential that as the importer or exporter of record, you fully understand your obligations and maintain the correct records for the correct time period.
