Event Information

The Third China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai from 5th-10th November 2020. The China Britain Business Council (CBBC) are pleased to invite you to join us on 13th February 2020 in central London for the Promotional Event for the Third CIIE, co-hosted by the China International Import Expo Bureau and the CBBC.

This promotional event will be attended by dignitaries and distinguished guests including the Assistant Minister of Commerce of China, the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, CIIE Bureau and provincial government officials, and representatives of exhibitors, buyers, media outlets and business associations.

The event provides an unmissable opportunity for UK businesses to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the CIIE and explore the enormous opportunities the Chinese market has to offer.

In May 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing that China will host the China International Import Expo (CIIE) starting from 2018. The CIIE has since become an annual gathering for business promotion with international influence and an inclusive platform for friendship and business cooperation. It is the world’s first import-themed expo held at a national level and represents an important move on the part of China to further open its market and promote trade, while also serving as a platform for international cooperation for all countries to showcase their developmental achievements and to discuss global economic and trade issues.

The inaugural edition of the CIIE, held in November 2018, was a huge success, attracting 172 countries, regions and international organisations and more than 3,600 companies, and a total of USD 57.8 billion worth of deals were reached.

The second CIIE, held in November 2019, was also a success, hosting 181 countries, regions and international organisations and over 3,800 companies, including 288 Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading participants. All major global automobile manufacturers, world-famous pharmaceutical and medical device companies and a number of high-end consumer brands joined, as well as small-and medium-sized enterprises. More than 500,000 Chinese and foreign buyers attended the event, with the value of intended deals topping USD 71.13 billion. Due to the enthusiastic response from across the world, the area for the business exhibition was twice expanded. During this event, supply-demand matchmaking conferences, product launches, signing ceremonies, demand releases and policy interpretation meetings were held to assist exhibitors and buyers to explore business deals.
