Join Team Lincolnshire, in partnership with Business Lincolnshire, at our next webinar dedicated to sustainable construction.

During the session we will be discussing the opportunities and barriers of building sustainably and will take a look at how technology and innovation can help construction companies meet the future needs for our county and support efforts in achieving net zero carbon.

We will review where Greater Lincolnshire is now and gain a greater understanding of what the ambition and future of sustainable construction is for the county, along with what is needed to achieve this.

There will be a discussion on what the barriers are to delivering sustainable construction and how the industry can redesign to bring out the opportunities using technology and innovation.

Finally, Morgan Sindall will present a case study on the GSK Carbon Neutral Laboratory project which they delivered recently for the University of Nottingham, illustrating how a zero carbon agenda is realised in practice, and what the experience has taught them in terms of achieving low carbon outcomes on future projects.

About the presenters:

Tom Jarman is Director of the consultancy Low Carbon Journey.  He has worked in construction, housing and infrastructure for 15 years, including project development, project and programme management, sustainability, Planning, newbuild, retrofit and Building Information Modelling.

Tom is a member of the Construction Leadership Council, where he is engaged in the Procuring for Value and Innovation in Buildings workstreams.  He is on the Advisory Board for Constructing Excellence in the North East as well as IC3, the International Centre for Connected Construction.  He is a Certified Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, and his professional commitment includes writing, blogging and presenting on key construction and clienting issues. In 2019 he received the CENE Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Vanessa Strange heads up Infrastructure Investment at Lincolnshire County Council. It combines three distinct but complimentary teams; spatial planning, funding, infrastructure and investment and transport and growth.

The Infrastructure Investment service is tasked with understanding and articulating the challenges and opportunities of the county as well as bringing forward funding in response. It works at a local, regional and national level to shape the agenda and create changes to both national policy direction but also to funding arrangements. Their partners are wide ranging from government departments to local business and subjects covered can be eclectic.

Tim Clement is a Senior Design Manager and has worked at Morgan Sindall for over 10 years. During this time he has been responsible for the achievement of ambitious environmental targets on the GSK Carbon Neutral Laboratory project for the University of Nottingham, including BREEAM Outstanding, LEED Platinum and carbon neutrality over 25 years of operation. He studied Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on both the empirical and sociological aspects of the whole life carbon assessment of buildings. He also sits on the carbon and energy action panel for Morgan Sindall Group, specifically working on the development of whole life carbon strategy and assessment methodology for building projects.
