Hedges and Small Woodland Grant (Free)

What is the grant available for?

This grant is available to businesses for planting hedges and small woodlands in order to enhance the landscape and benefit wildlife.

Lincolnshire County Council bulk buys on average 40,000 trees each year and through the scheme we will provide hedging plants and woodland trees (including protection) at the actual price the Council paid last year. The grant element is inflation plus the bulk buying discount. As a guide for the winter of 2014-15 one metre of mixed native hedging would cost approximately £1.58 plus VAT

Eligibility Criteria

  • The grant is open to anyone who owns or manages land within the county of Lincolnshire. However, we will not generally fund woodland schemes larger than 0.5 hectares and hedgerows longer than 1 kilometer, as these are better funded through other grant schemes. If your proposal exceeds this, please contact us for guidance.
  • Planting for private gardens and works required as a condition of planning permission are not eligible. Grants cannot be awarded retrospectively.
  • Grants will not be awarded to schemes that have an adverse effect on historic or important sites for wildlife.

How to Apply

The closing date for applications each year is 30 September. We aim to make written grant offers, which show details of the cost to applicants by 31 October. At which point you have the opportunity to either accept or decline our grant offer. Trees will generally be delivered in early January and an invoice will follow for your contribution.
