All you wanted to know about VAT but were too afraid to ask

VAT is often a mystery to many a business, let alone the bookkeepers and those responsible for looking after a business or organisation’s financial affairs. Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, in association with Streets Chartered Accountants, are pleased to be hosting this special presentation focusing on many of the common misconceptions and concerns relating to the treatment of VAT.
The session will be led by Alan Taylor, VAT specialist with Streets Chartered
Accountants who is a member of the VAT Practitioners’ Group. Alan is well
experienced in VAT matters generally, but specifically in respect of VAT
planning relating to property and land transactions, company groupings,
VAT recovery and cash flow. He is also able to advise on special methods to
    enhance input tax recovery.

    • Concerns and issues relating to VAT -
      • The differing rates of VAT
      • VAT - Voluntary and obligatory registration
      • VAT - Deregistration
      • VAT Returns – including Annual Cash Accounting and the Flat Rate Scheme
      • Treatment of VAT for Invoicing and Supply of Goods and Services
      • Scale charges on fuel
      • Treatment of VAT in relation to expenses
      • Treatment of VAT in relation to property, and in particular partial exemption and the election to tax
      • Treatment of VAT in relation to grant funding

Starting your own business can be an expensive time: it is crucial that money needs to be well spent.

Our two day course will help you maximize the impact of your budget for IT, as well as showing you how you can gain great online marketing for little or no cost.

On Day One, we’ll help you explore the basics of hardware and software that you’re likely to need, and how to minimize costs (this might even be free!). We’ll also have a hands-on look at a range of technology that might be suitable in your business as well as how to minimize your costs in the longer term too.

On Day Two, we’ll look at low-cost online ways of promoting your business even before you get your own website. We’ll also help you put it all together into an Action Plan for you to take forward after the sessions

    Who should attend?

The course is aimed at those people starting their own business – but it would also be of use for anyone who may wish to minimize IT costs within their existing small business.
