Event Information

Join us on MS teams from 9.30am with Dave Thornett and Jody Raggo for a morning of discussion and exploration of the sources of finance available to the social economy sector - Social Enterprises, Charities, Community Groups, and organisations with a clear social or environmental mission.

Dave Thornett from Key Fund Investements will provide both an exploration of the UK social investment landscape and under pin knowledge of the principles and practice of securing social investment and the use of blended finance. The session will give you a good working knowledge of what finance is available and the process by which you might secure it.

Key Fund is a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to supporting new enterprises, creating new jobs, and reinvigorating communities offering social investment to the North and the Midlands. Dave has been working in the sector for 30 years and remains absolutely convinced of the importance and efficacy of locally informed, owned and delivered services, where the people that most value and use those services are able to influence their content, quality and methodology. Dave is a Trustee of ZEST, a neighbourhood anchor providing citywide services in Sheffield. Zest runs the only ramp access swimming pool in the city, a local library, gym facilities, youth and sports services, employment support as well as smoking cessation and weight management services across Sheffield.

Jody Raggo from VCS will look at the top Hints, Tips and Tricks that you can use to give you the best chance of getting your grant funding application approved. Jody will look at the type of funders out there and the various ways you can secure funding for your group.

Jody has over 13 years’ experience working with communities and voluntary groups across Lincolnshire initially starting at Lincolnshire CVS before transitioning to his current role as a Groups Development & Capacity Building Project Officer with Voluntary Centre Services in 2020. His role involves giving advice and guidance on anything from governance and legal statuses to business planning, fundraising strategies and accessing grant funding. Jody is also a Trustee for Headway Lincolnshire, a long-standing brain injury support charity and Wild Things Rescue, a Wildlife Rehabilitation charity.
