Over 500 businesses in Greater Lincolnshire have benefited from 1:1, group and grant support from the county’s Growth Hub following a cash injection from the European Regional Development Fund in September last year.
The number of businesses engaging with Business Lincolnshire in the last eight months has reached 581, with 401 businesses receiving at least three hours of support and 74 receiving at least twelve hours of help.
Most commonly, businesses in Lincolnshire are seeking advice on growth and developing their businesses, with 51% of businesses requesting support for growing an existing business.
The county of Lincolnshire is quickly becoming a hub for commercial ventures and investment. The city of Lincoln was recently voted the sixth best city in which to set up a business.
Historically famous for being a centre for engineering, agriculture and tourism, in recent years the county has grown a thriving e-commerce and food production sector. Business Lincolnshire, a county wide advice service for businesses, has seen a huge surge in business growth over the past year. Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economy at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub has done a remarkable job of engaging with a wide range of businesses over the last year and we will continue to support businesses in Lincolnshire to grow. A thriving business community leads to a thriving local economy with more job opportunities and increased prosperity and this is good news for people across Lincolnshire.”
The support on offer for businesses includes an online portal dedicated to helping Lincolnshire based businesses access local, regional and national information relating to business advice and grant schemes. Other services available include access to an experienced adviser to help businesses develop a focused plan, identifying where and how their business can grow and what support they can access. The Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub can also offer tailored advice ranging from employing for the first time to resource efficiency.
Businesses receiving support from Business Lincolnshire in the last eight months include firms in the biotechnology, financial services and leisure and tourism industries.
The Lincolnshire digital sector, currently worth £779million, has seen over 100 businesses engaging with the Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub service. Nearly 2000 digital businesses are based in the county, with 16,000 employees working within a digital role.
One in five businesses have enquired about finance and grants to help them grow their business. Businesses based in Lincolnshire can apply for grants ranging from £1000 and £10,000.
