What you'll learn
- What the difference is between managing and leading and why it matters when trying to get the task done, build an effective team and get the best out of the individuals that make up that team.
- Your own preferred style of leadership and why there is no right or wrong way to lead a team. Everyone can learn to lead and manage effectively by understanding how different approaches work in different situations.
- Why people are different! We will have a look at motivation and explore how an understanding of some of the foundation theories can be so useful in understanding how to inspire and reward people effectively.
- How to identify what people are likely to be very good at and how to make the best use of this knowledge. We also need to understand that that we ‘pay a price’ for what people excel at and that we need to understand what ‘allowable weaknesses’ are and how to manage them.
- How to communicate clearly and delegate successfully to improve the skills, competencies and knowledge of individuals within your team.
