Leadership and Management: The Effective Leader Workshop

Event Information

Good leadership gets the balance between guiding and influencing the direction and actions of people towards the organisation’s goals and objectives. Leadership style, personal energy, commitment, self-belief are all part of the mix, as is the ability to understand the importance of clear communication and the ability to understand what motivates the individuals within your team. We will also find time to look at how to have those difficult conversations and how to deal with difficult situations if they arise.

By the end of the day, you will have gained an insight into your own personal leadership style and preferences as well as understand the need to balance management and leadership. We will look at the role of delegation as a development tool, how to use an understanding of motivational theory in a practical manner and look at some clear communication principles. You will also have had an entertaining and enjoyable day with a number of interesting challenges and tasks!

What You’ll Learn:

• How great leaders lead effectively. We will look at several leadership models and theories and discuss how knowledge of these principles can be translated into practical and effective strategies in the workplace.
• The difference between management and leadership functions and responsibilities and why it matters.
• Your own preferred leadership style by completing a straightforward questionnaire. We will discuss why we need to be flexible in our approach to get the best out of people and how to do this effectively.
• Why effective leaders use delegation as a development tool and the main principles and steps required.
• What methods can be used for improving the motivation of work teams and individuals and how these can be used in a practical and effective manner.
• How to have those difficult conversations and deal with difficult situations by understanding and using a straightforward strategy

Who Should Attend:

Owners and/or managers who are (or will be) responsible for managing or leading others at a more senior level. The training content is an excellent introduction for those delegates who have had no experience of formal management training but who have experience of managing and leading a team.

The Effective Leader Day has been designed to complement The Team Dynamics and Team Building workshop should delegates wish to attend both events.

How do I attend? 

The workshop is fully funded by Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub and open to any business resident in Lincolnshire and meeting the criteria for an SME enterprise. Maximum of 2 delegates per business.
