Lincolnshire Business Angels and the British Business Bank are teaming up to increase the number of female angel investors in our network, which has strong focus on backing East Midlands based businesses.

Female angel investors are making a significant impact on the business landscape, particularly for female founded businesses. However, with only 14% of angel investors being women, the underrepresentation limits diversity and exacerbates the funding gap for female-led businesses. According to the Women Angel Insights report between 2012 and 2022, over 5,000 female angels invested more than £2 billion into UK companies, creating 10,000 jobs, with nearly 25% of these investments going to female-founded companies, surpassing the industry average of 19%.

Angel investors invest their own money in small businesses for a minority stake (typically 10% to 25%) and offer valuable mentoring, support, and business expertise. They work closely with entrepreneurs over several years to help drive business growth.
