What does the business do?

Amber Care is a domiciliary care provider based in Market Rasen, offering 24/7 health and social care 365 days a year. The domiciliary care that Amber Care provide includes personal care with tasks such as shopping, light cleaning and companionship. This allows people to stay in their own home, a place they feel comfortable. Amber Care wants to help people to retain their pride and dignity.

What's the history?

The idea for Amber Care was born in October 2012, but the company didn’t officially start until late 2013. Both Bronia and her son Jack bring passion to Amber Care and aim to offer quality care that is sometimes lacking in the health and care settling.

How have Business Lincolnshire helped?

Before accessing support from Business Lincolnshire, Amber Care was in the early development stage. Jack was finishing his University degree studying business and management and Bronia was working full time in the NHS. They started scoping the idea for the business and found support from other like-minded people and family members doing similar work in social care. The words of encouragement helped Jack and Bronia to move forward with the project that became Amber Care. Bronia attended a local 4-day business training workshop where she met David Hawkins, a Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub adviser, who introduced her to the Business Lincolnshire Growth Lincolnshire Programme and what it has to offer businesses in Lincolnshire. Support provided by Business Lincolnshire included breaking down the business plan into sections, as Bronia and Jack had very little practical experience in business management. Business Lincolnshire helped create a business plan, targets, back up plans and strategies. David offered moral support and put Bronia in touch with other advisers who could offer expert advice in specialist areas. The support gave Bronia and Jack the confidence in business management but more crucially helped them to identify their USP (Unique Selling Point) which has helped them focus their efforts and continue to grow their business.

What's next?

Amber Care is continuing to expand, and they have recently assembled a team of twenty in Scunthorpe. The business is continuing to develop and improve it’s already high standard of care. From self-conducted research, the team have identified new night time practices that they will implement to help improve the quality of the 24/7 cycle of care.
