Race to a Trillion
DIT is challenging government and UK businesses to Race to a Trillion, with the united goal of raising UK exports to £1 trillion every year.
The government aims to meet this target in 12 ways:
Export Support Service
The Export Support Service (ESS) is DIT’s end-to-end service that supports businesses exporting to Europe. An expansion is planned for this service, which will support businesses as they export to all markets.
Supporting exporters across the UK
DIT has opened new offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as a second DIT headquarters in Darlington. These offices will help to extend DIT’s trade support to all areas of the UK.
Financial support for exporters
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) aims to strengthen economic, social and territorial unity across Europe. It does so by correcting imbalances between included regions and enables a greener, more competitive, more joined-up Europe. Its Internalisation Fund is offering 7,500 SMEs in England financial support to help internationalise their business.
UK Export Finance
UK Export Finance (UKEF) is expanding its products and delivery network to help ensure no credible UK export fails due to a lack of funding or insurance.
Government departments that facilitate exporting are taking a joint approach, linking governments and businesses through DIT’s global network.
UK Export Academy
DIT is expanding its pilot Export Academy, and now offers tailored training programmes and digital resources to assist businesses in navigating the intricacies of trading overseas.
Our exporting networks
DIT is expanding its community of Export Champions, helping businesses to learn from exporting successes and build their business overseas via business-to-business networking and peer learning.
Made in the UK, Sold to the World
Made in the UK, Sold to the World promotes the government’s priority sectors with the aim of doubling UK exports and helping businesses to take advantage of untapped opportunities overseas.
UK Trade Show Programme
DIT is piloting a new tradeshow scheme, the UK Tradeshow Programme (UKTP), to increase efforts to promote UK PLC at global tradeshows. Find out more about the UK Tradeshow Programme here.
Making exporting easier
DIT is placing exporting at the centre of reforms regarding regulation, cross-government measures and regulatory diplomacy, with the goal of building perfect conditions for UK exporters to flourish.
Access to global networks
DIT is taking advantage of the UK government’s presence in more than 180 countries to deliver sector and market-specific advice to forward-thinking, high-growth businesses, helping them to grow their business internationally.
Opening Markets Worldwide
DIT is opening new markets for exporters via trade deals, with the target of covering 80% of the UK trade by the close of 2022. This includes removing market access barriers.
