What does the business do?

Blue Castle are industry-changing waste management consultants with a refreshing focus on being environmentally conscious. With a variety of quality services ranging from commercial recycling and utility management, to waste management and energy consultancy, Blue Castle has successfully positioned themselves to be a major player in the waste management sector.

With a brand new recycling centre recently opening its doors in Long Bennington, Lincolnshire, providing brand new opportunities for new faces to join the Blue Castle family, the company has continued to push themselves and expand their extensive list of services as they strive to become the industry leaders both regionally, and nationally.

What's the history?

Founded in 2002, Blue Castle has continued to grow year-on-year. By constantly growing in scope, passion and ambition, the Blue Castle team is now 40 people strong at their Head Office and PVC recycling plant.

For the current CEO, Marie’s story is quite spectacular. Beginning at the company in 2010 as the Waste Administrator, she worked tirelessly to quickly become the Waste Services Director. In 2014 the company was bought by private investors, who on the first day of meeting Marie decided to hire her as the CEO.

Since then Marie has been leading the company from strength to strength, implementing a highly skilled team of industry experts around her to form a leadership team with focus, determination and passion.

How have Business Lincolnshire helped?

After getting in touch with the Growth Programme, the Business Lincolnshire team soon realised that there were numerous opportunities to provide support to Blue Castle.

As part of the Growth Programme, Blue Castle successfully secured capital funding towards machinery that could deal with the disposal of PVC banner material effectively. This machine was a huge contribution to the overall success of Blue Castle’s new recycling centre.

This success also had a positive impact on Blue Castle leading a successful Innovate UK campaign, which will help the business grow on an even larger scale moving forward. Not to mention the three full-time permanent positions that have also been created thanks to this new recycling centre.

Further help that was included as part of the support through the Growth Hub was the opportunity to join the exclusive Scale Up Programme, which offers high level exclusive courses for fast growing businesses.

What's next?

The huge confidence boost after successfully launching the UK’s first-ever PVC recycling scheme has meant that Marie and the Blue Castle team are motivated to continue pushing themselves to grow.

They’re wasting no time in exploring new exciting markets to break into and we’re sure that we’ll be hearing plenty of positive news and announcements from them in the near future.
