Rural England Prosperity Fund Boosts Rural Businesses in North Kesteven

Published on: 19/07/2023

The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) has been introduced to Rural Districts in England as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aiming to boost economic growth and support local communities. Managed by North Kesteven District Council on behalf of DEFRA, the £450,000 REPF allocation includes a Rural Business Grant to assist businesses in the District.

DEFRA emphasises that the capital grant will help new and existing rural businesses develop products and facilities for broader economic benefits. Eligible sectors include rural start-ups, the visitor economy, hospitality, rural building conversions, food and drink, and manufacturing.

Priority will be given to investments fostering green growth and contributing to Net Zero, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. However, certain areas contiguous to the City of Lincoln are ineligible for the grant.

The competitive grant process will assess applications based on impact, value for money, and deliverability. The panel of NKDC officers will ensure a fair evaluation of applications.

Through the Rural Business Grant, North Kesteven's rural businesses are expected to thrive, driving economic growth and contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future for the district.
