Slavery and Human Trafficking in Supply Chains: New Guidance for Businesses

Published on: 01/04/2025

Earlier this week the Government released updated statutory guidance for Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, reinforcing the responsibility of businesses to combat modern slavery in their operations and supply chains.

This revision updates the original guidance introduced 10 years ago and applies to companies with an annual turnover of £36 million or more, requiring them to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement.

The revised guidance outlines:

  • Who is required to publish a modern slavery statement
  • How to write, approve and publish a modern slavery statement
  • Key actions businesses should consider to tackle modern slavery

By following this guidance, businesses can ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in their business or supply chains.
