What is the grant available for?
The government has announced a £120 million extension of the Plug-in Vehicle Grant, aimed at supporting businesses, taxi drivers and individuals in adopting electric and zero-emission vehicles.
The funding will be available for another year, offering financial assistance for the purchase of vans, taxis and wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
To further support the transition, the requirement for additional training for zero-emission vans is being removed, reducing costs and administrative burdens for businesses. The government has stated that this change is intended to facilitate hiring and fleet expansion.
The funding is part of a wider £2.3 billion investment in the electric vehicle sector, which includes support for industry and consumers. The extension also maintains a £500 grant for electric motorbikes.

What grant amounts are available?
Businesses and van drivers can apply for grants of up to £2,500 for small vans up to 2.5 tonnes and up to £5,000 for larger vans up to 4.25 tonnes. Taxi drivers can access £4,000 towards the cost of electric black cabs and other eligible models. The grant for wheelchair-accessible vehicles is also increasing, with the cap rising from £35,000 to £50,000.
