What is the grant available for?
Innovate UK (IUK) has opened the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 6, providing up to £30 million to support innovation in clean maritime technologies.

The competition is open to UK-registered businesses of any size collaborating with other UK organisations, including academic institutions, charities, public sector bodies, and research organisations.
Applications must demonstrate how projects will contribute to cleaner maritime operations, advancing technologies such as hydrogen, wind power, and electric systems.

This funding opportunity is divided into three strands:
- Strand 1: Pre-deployment Trials
Focused on pre-deployment testing of clean maritime technologies, this strand excludes Smart Shipping. Projects must design, develop, and test innovative on-vessel or infrastructure technologies. Eligible project costs range from £100,000 to £2 million. - Strand 2: Feasibility Studies
This strand funds technical and economic feasibility studies for clean maritime technologies, including on-vessel technologies, infrastructure, or skills development. Total eligible costs must fall between £75,000 and £1 million. - Strand 3: Smart Shipping
Supporting feasibility studies and pre-deployment projects, Strand 3 prioritises digital technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality in maritime transport. Eligible costs range from £75,000 to £2 million.
