What is the Business Support?
On 21st December Government announced a further financial support package to specific sectors impacted by the spread of Covid 19. More information on this package can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/1-billion-in-support-for-businesses-most-impacted-by-omicron-across-the-uk
As with all previous Covid grant schemes, as we receive information we will update the website to signpost eligible businesses to the correct place.
Eligible firms that pay business rates in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors, many of which have seen a decline in footfall and increased cancellations due to the Omicron variant, will be able to apply for one-off grants of up to £6,000 per premises depending on the rateable value:
- businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 or above: £6,000
- businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000: £4,000
- businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or below: £2,667
Other businesses impacted by Omicron, may also be able to apply for grants through the ARG Scheme.
Please note that all businesses will need to make a new application to access this funding. There will be no automatic payments. This is a new COVID support schemes with new eligibility rules and guidance, so if your businesses had been eligible for a grant previously, this does not mean that your business will be eligible for this new grant. Please read the scheme guidance carefully on the Local Authority website and follow the instructions provided. The new application process includes a number of prepayment checks which will take some time to undertake, so there will be a delay between submitting an application and the payment being made.
Please see the below links to the Local Authority pages where the application process has gone live -
