Time is running out for East Midlands manufacturers to access fully funded digital support

Micro and SME manufacturers across the East Midlands are being encouraged to explore how digital technology could help them cut costs, save time, and grow, especially before the current support programme closes.

Through Made Smarter East Midlands, eligible firms can access up to £20,000 in matched grant funding to adopt digital tools that solve real-world challenges. For instance, that means automating manual processes; meanwhile, others might focus on improving stock management or making production planning more efficient. In many cases, the impact is often immediate, freeing up staff time, reducing errors, and increasing profitability.

Financial support is just one part of what Made Smarter offers. Participating businesses also gain access to:

  • One-to-one advice from digital specialists offering practical guidance tailored to your business challenges.
  • A clear digital roadmap helping you prioritise investments and plan your adoption with confidence.
  • Leadership and skills development equipping your team to lead change effectively.
  • Fully funded digital internships connecting your business with talented students and graduates to explore digital projects with no cost or long-term commitment.
  • HR and operational support providing guidance to align people, processes, and technology.

"Made Smarter East Midlands provided invaluable guidance and support. They asked the right questions, helped us identify our strengths and weaknesses, and produced a clear report outlining opportunities. Their expertise and network of resources made a huge difference in our digital transformation journey!"

Marius Muraska, Operations & Marketing Director at Skipper’s Pet Products Ltd.

Across the region, hundreds of manufacturers have already joined Made Smarter East Midlands as a result, their reporting higher productivity, stronger resilience, and greater confidence in adopting new technology.

Chris Owen, Programme Director for Made Smarter East Midlands, said: “We’ve seen first-hand how small manufacturers can achieve big results when they get the right support. Digital adoption doesn’t have to be expensive or overwhelming. Our role is to make it practical, affordable, and low risk. But places are limited, so we’re encouraging businesses to register now while the opportunity is still available.”

Meanwhile, demand is rising fast, and support is limited. Consequently, manufacturers who wait risk missing out on fully funded advice as well as grants that could support their business.
