A new Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for Greater Lincolnshire has been officially approved by the Secretary of State for Education and is now available to read.

The Plan has been developed with input from employers across the region and sets out a shared approach to tackling some of the key workforce challenges facing local businesses. From recruitment difficulties and skills shortages to future workforce needs, the LSIP aims to ensure that training and education better reflect what employers need to grow and succeed.

Now that the Plan has been approved and published, the focus turns to putting it into practice and delivering the changes employers told us they want to see.

What Could This Mean for Your Business?

Many businesses across Greater Lincolnshire have told us they struggle to recruit people with the right skills and find time for staff development. The LSIP was created to help address these challenges by bringing employers, training providers and local partners together around a common set of priorities.

Over time, the Plan aims to:

  • Improve access to relevant training and skills development.
  • Help education providers better understand employer needs.
  • Support businesses to recruit and retain talent.
  • Strengthen the local workforce and future talent pipeline.
  • Ensure skills investment is focused on areas of greatest need.

By working together, organisations across Greater Lincolnshire can help create a more responsive skills system that supports both businesses and learners.

Why Employer Involvement Matters

The LSIP is built on employer feedback, and ongoing business engagement will play a key role in its success. Whether you’re a sole trader, SME or larger organisation, your experiences and insights can help shape future activity and ensure skills provision continues to reflect the realities businesses face on the ground. The more employers get involved, the stronger the link between training provision and workplace needs will become.

The Greater Lincolnshire LSIP is the result of contributions from employers, education providers and partners from across the region. All working towards a common goal: helping people develop the skills businesses need now and in the future.

Now the Plan has been approved and published, we encourage you to take a look and see what it could mean for your business, workforce and sector.

Whether you’re interested in recruitment, training, apprenticeships or future workforce development, the plan provides a useful insight into the priorities that will help shape skills provision across Greater Lincolnshire in the years ahead.
