Tesco extends Future Farmers Programme

The Future Farmer Programme, delivered by Harper Adams University’s School of Sustainable Food and Farming and sponsored by Tesco, is a fully funded nine-month development programme designed to help young farmers build the skills needed for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector.

The programme is open to farmers under the age of 40 from all agricultural sectors and provides a combination of online learning, face-to-face networking events, supply chain visits, mentoring, and personal development support. Participants explore topics including sustainable farming practices, biodiversity, business resilience, leadership, and adapting farm businesses to meet future environmental and market challenges.

Training is fully funded, although participants are expected to cover their own travel costs to events. The programme focuses on three key areas:

• Sustainable Futures – understanding sustainability, environmental drivers, measurement tools, and action planning.
• Agile Minds – developing leadership, resilience, networking, and personal effectiveness.
• Agile Business – improving business performance, planning for change, accessing sustainable finance, and building a roadmap towards a net zero agribusiness.
