The Great British Energy Supply Chain Fund: Offshore Wind and Networks programme provides capital grant funding to support the expansion of UK manufacturing capacity for constrained components used in offshore wind and enabling electricity networks.

Demand for these components is exceeding current supply chain capacity, leading to bottlenecks, extended lead times, increased costs and project delays. These issues present risks to the delivery of key infrastructure projects.

The Fund focuses investment on the most constrained components within the offshore wind and electricity networks supply chain, with the aim of strengthening supply chain security in the UK.

The primary objective is to increase domestic manufacturing capacity for these components. A secondary objective is to create and support new and existing jobs in the UK, including within industrial clusters. A sub-objective is to encourage more resilient and sustainable production by promoting investment in shorter or greener supply chains.

The investment is expected to mobilise significant public and private funding and support employment across the sector.

The fund will make up to £300 million available in capital grant funding. There is no minimum or maximum limit on the size of individual grants that can be applied for through the programme. Applicants must demonstrate that the level of funding requested is the minimum required for the project to proceed.

Grant requests will also be assessed on the basis of value for money.
