The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund is a four-year, £60 million programme delivered by Historic England and funded by DCMS. The fund supports the repair, conservation and conversion of historic buildings and sites that are at risk across England, helping preserve nationally and locally significant heritage assets while generating community benefit.
Funding is available for listed buildings of all grades, historic buildings within conservation areas, registered parks and gardens, and scheduled monuments. Grants can be awarded to organisations and individuals with legal responsibility for the asset, including owners, leaseholders with substantial repairing obligations, and those with agreements to acquire eligible properties.
Priority is given to projects located in areas with high levels of deprivation and limited access to investment, particularly where proposals will produce significant community benefit. The fund is competitive and not all applications will be successful.
Applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Successful applicants may then be invited to submit a full application. The programme is open until March 2030, with applications invited through periodic funding rounds.
