Luminary Launches as the First Digital Learning Platform Purpose-Built for UK Creative Professionals

Jolly Good Web is thrilled to announce the official launch of Luminary; a groundbreaking digital learning platform designed specifically for the UK creative industries.

Supported by Innovate UK, which has provided 70% of the project funding, Luminary is available now at www.learnwithluminary.com. The platform removes traditional barriers to both learning and teaching, empowering creative freelancers and industry professionals to upskill, share knowledge, and grow their careers.

Unlike traditional learning platforms, Luminary operates on a transactional model with no subscription requirement. Users can purchase individual courses that interest them or explore a growing library of free content. The platform breaks down credentialing barriers by allowing any content creator to publish courses, with quality assured through a community rating system, optional creator identity verification (coming soon), and manual moderation of low-rated content.

Luminary

“Luminary exists to empower creative professionals, and we want creators to own their learning journey,” says Jayne Emery, Business Manager at Jolly Good Web and Project Lead of Luminary.

“Whether you are a freelancer looking to master new tools, a developer seeking to stay current with industry trends, or an experienced practitioner wanting to share your expertise, Luminary is built for you. We are removing the gatekeepers and creating a platform where talent and passion matter more than formal credentials. Having Innovate UK behind us is a real endorsement of the potential this platform has to make a difference in the creative sector.”

The platform features rich, varied content formats including video lessons, interactive quizzes, downloadable resources, and text lessons, meeting learners wherever they prefer to engage. Gamification elements such as achievement badges, learning streaks, and progress tracking keep the experience engaging and rewarding. Early interest has already demonstrated strong potential for Luminary’s whitelabel functionality, which allows organisations to customise the platform for their internal training needs.

Luminary represents a significant milestone for the UK creative sector, which has long lacked a learning platform that truly understands and serves its unique needs. The 70% funding from Innovate UK reflects the project’s innovation potential and its alignment with UK government priorities for supporting the creative economy. By fostering a community where creators teach creators, Luminary is building a sustainable ecosystem of continuous professional development.
