Six-Month Extension to Bus Recovery Grant

Published on: 21/09/2022

England bus operators to benefit from a further £130 million government support.

The Bus Recovery Grant (BRG), which aims to support vital bus services across the country, is being extended for six months from October 2022 to the end of March 2023.

Business Lincolnshire encourages commercial bus operators in Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland to apply for the funding to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on their revenue from reduced patronage. The measure will serve to protect bus routes, which are essential for connecting our region’s rural and urban communities. This financial support will impact both individuals and local businesses as we face the pressures of the rising cost of living.

The Department for Transport recently updated the guidance on how to claim support from the Bus Recovery Grant (BRG) to reflect that the scheme will be extended for six months from October 2022 to the end of March 2023. The grant is open to both public bus operator running commercial and community bus services in the Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland area. To be eligible for the funding, bus operators must have already completed an application to join the BRG scheme and be running at 90% or more of pre-COVID-19 mileage levels.
