Business leaders and SMEs from across Greater Lincolnshire gathered for GoDigital25 – Smart Growth, Business Lincolnshire’s flagship digital conference, to explore how digital adoption can unlock new opportunities and drive business success. The event brought together over 100 SMEs, industry experts and digital specialists to share insights, spark discussions and build valuable connections.
The conference, held at the Engine Shed in Lincoln, featured a keynote speech from Allister Frost, a business growth expert and former Head of Digital Marketing Strategy at Microsoft. He inspired attendees to develop a future-ready mindset and embrace change as a catalyst for success.

Interactive sessions including panel discussions and hands-on workshops provided practical takeaways for businesses at all stages of their digital journey. The ‘Smart Growth in Action’ panel brought together business leaders who have made digital technology work for them. Kerry Gibson from ReThread Denim shared how being outside of a traditional business background has allowed her to think on her feet and embrace change. Richard Hill from eComOne reflected on how starting a podcast five years ago turned into a major opportunity, especially during the pandemic when big names were suddenly available to interview. Emma Olivier-Townrow from Stokes Tea & Coffee highlighted how digital adoption has helped staff see new benefits, pushing the business into its next phase of innovation.
The afternoon’s ‘From Hire to Inspire’ panel explored how digital tools are transforming workforce development. Zoe King from Epix Media explained how, as a small team, they use digital technology to automate onboarding, saving time and resources. Stephanie Robinson from Streets Heaver Healthcare Computing spoke about the importance of giving staff time to explore digital tools that can enhance their roles. Lee Douglas from the Careers Hub stressed the need to raise young people’s awareness of opportunities within the region, while Shane Traill from First Media discussed how digital platforms can make training and compliance seamless for new employees.
Emma Ellse’s AI workshop was another highlight of the day, giving SME leaders practical guidance on using AI while stressing the importance of human oversight. "AI is loaded with bias. You need an expert in the room to sense-check," she advised, prompting attendees to reflect on when and where AI should be used in their businesses.
Cllr Colin Davie, Executive Councillor for Economy and Place at Lincolnshire County Council, praised the event’s impact, “GoDigital25 has been a fantastic opportunity for businesses to explore how digital innovation can help them work smarter and grow sustainably. The enthusiasm in the room proves that Lincolnshire businesses are ready to embrace change and future-proof their operations. Business Lincolnshire continues to offer support for SMEs looking to take that next step.”
Throughout the day, the Expo and Networking Zone provided a platform for local service providers and support organisations, giving attendees direct access to advice and solutions tailored to their business needs. Katrina Pierce, who hosted the event, wrapped up the day by encouraging businesses to continue the conversations beyond the conference.
With thought-provoking discussions, inspiring success stories and plenty of networking opportunities, GoDigital25 – Smart Growth reinforced the value of digital transformation and highlighted the support available for businesses in the region.
