Business Academy: Making the most of your Board

16 June 2026 - 11:00 am • 16 June 2026 - 12:00 pm • Online

Event Information

Most businesses fail to fulfil their full potential because of leadership. A Board is there to help leaders deliver.

What you’ll learn
  • What governance really means
  • What roles you, as a founder-CxO, and other directors have
  • How to check your Board is working

Governance should not be a dirty word, or one that is just for big corporations or for having “your homework marked”.

It should be about maximising success at every stage of your journey and creating options for yourself as you grow and as your business grows.

This webinar provides a refresh on the role of the directors and of the Board in a growing or venture-backed business and provides guidance on how to optimise the Board that you have – or that you want to build.

Speakers

Nick Sturge MBE CDir FRSA FIET
Portfolio Non-exec, chair and adviser to growing companies, The Founders Journey

After co-founding and floating a tech business on the London Stock Exchange, Nick ran the SETsquared Business Incubator in Bristol to become part of the world’s leading university backed business incubator in 2015,18 and 19.

He founded the Engine Shed innovation hub in 2013 and since 2019 has had a portfolio of non-exec, advisory and consultancy roles for tech, creative, university and local government clients.

He now runs workshops on board governance for founder-CxOs and board evaluations for growing and venture-backed businesses.
